  • Biotransformation: definition, types (phase I and II reactions); microbial biotransformation of steroids, alkaloids, terpenoids
  • Plant cell and tissue culture: callus culture, suspension culture, organ culture; production of secondary metabolites (shikonin, taxol via Taxus callus)
